    Zoloft murder

The jury verdict is in --guilty--in the case of Christopher Pittman, a teenager on trial for murder who used Zoloft as a defense has been found guilty. Christopher was 15 when he killed his grandparents. He was charged as an adult and will be sentenced this afternoon to between 30 years and life. The South Carolina Supreme Court upheld the murder conviction Monday of a teenager who claimed antidepressants led him to kill his grandparents and set their house on fire when he was 12 years old. The court ruled against several arguments made by Christopher Pittman's attorneys, including the contention that he was denied a speedy trial before he was sentenced to 30 years in prison in February 2005. Three years earlier, he had shot his grandparents, Joe and Joy Pittman, with a pump-action shotgun as they slept, then set fire to their home in Chester County. His attorneys argued unsuccessfully that he had been involuntarily intoxicated by the antidepressant Zoloft at the time of the shooting and didn't know right from wrong. In appealing, his attorneys said the trial judge should have used a different standard for jurors to determine involuntary intoxication. Appeal possible Paul Waldner, one of Pittman's attorneys, said an appeal was possible. "Obviously the decision is a setback for us, but our resolve to continue to try to obtain justice for this boy who committed the only violent act of his life only days after he was given a mind-altering drug is strong," Waldner said. Prosecutor Barney Giese was not immediately available for comment.

Christopher Frank Pittman was convicted in 2005 of murdering his grandparents, Joe and Joy Pittman, on November 28, 2001, when he was 12 years old. The case drew national attention in part because of his age at the time of the crime and in part because his defense that the prescription drug Zoloft influenced his actions. After the murder he set fire to the house using a candle and papers.

Last year when I was pregnant I had serious problems with my legs. By the end of the day they used to get thick and swollen. I couldn't wear shoes and it was unpleasant for me to move. I not only looked ugly but my doctor told me that it was not good for me and for the baby as well. I did my best not to drink too much liquids but the problem wouldn't go away. Then my doctor put me on Lasix and since that time I forgot about ankle edemas. The medication made it so easy for me to control the amount of water in my body and get rid of the horrible leg edemas. We love each other dearly, but you know I have always been worried about the difference in our age. Australia, May 25, 2001 A Supreme Court Justice in an Australian courtroom ruled that Zoloft was the cause for David John Hawkins strangling his wife of nearly 50 years. So strong was his statement that it led to headlines like this across the country: "Court finds drug made man kill wife" "Drug led to murder: judge" "Drug turned loving man into a killer, says judge" "Pills drove husband to murder" "Drug blamed for wife's death" Justice O'Keefe stated in his ruling: "It can be seen that the medical evidence strongly supports a conclusion that but for the effect of the 250mg of Zoloft he had taken, it is wholly unlikely that the prisoner would have committed the crime to which he had pleaded guilty." Karen Barth, of Baum Hedlund et al, one of the attorneys who represented the family of Brynn and Phil Hartman and currently representing the surviving family of a prominent Cerritos, California businessman and politician who committed suicide while taking Zoloft (Motus v. Pfizer, CV 00-298 AHM (Shx) in the United States District Court for the Central District of California in Los Angeles) stated of the ruling: "Pfizer has known for years that its drug Zoloft can cause some people to become violent and suicidal, and now, through Justice O'Keefe's ruling, the public is finally getting to know this as well. Unfortunately, this information came too late and at great cost to Mr.

I've been on Tamoxifen since about November last year, I'm very lucky in that I am no longer receiving any other treatments now but recently I have had terrible mood swings, for around the last month or so I can go from sad, to irritated by the tiniest thing, to really rageful within minutes, crying for no reason seems to be my lastest thing. But I'm sure it's just another thing to put up with... All very frustrating as I don't want to feel this way, have lots to look forward to and am lucky to have lovely friends and family so am struggling with my recent moods and hoping that tamoxifen may be the culprit and I'm not just slowly going mad ! Ness x Hi Ness, Sad to hear you too are suffering ( reassuring to know I'm not alone though) I know the night sweats are ridiculous sometimes, not looking forward to winter and central heating, sure there will be a thermostat battle between me and my partner and me opening a sneaky window. day to day is startingto become a struggle, has anyone else had this experience ??? Aside from the night sweats which are horrible and the hot flushes mood swings are something I'm really suffering with. I feel terrible because it's my kids that get the brunt of it. Will let you know if I get any info/reassurance from my Dr next time I see them(Your little one is v cute Hi Chelle and Ness, I do smypathise with both of you. I had two years on hormone therapy for prostate cancer and am with what you say about hot flushes and night sweats. I ended up having a competition with my wife to see who could have the most and I was way out in front both for the amount and also the severity. Allthough I suffered from mood swings, I never did get angry but I did used to find when I heard somthing sad or even somthing good, I often used to have tears running down my face which as a man I found very hard as I had no control over it. One night I thought my wife was in the kichen and there was some thing on the tele about this animal of a father who helped by his wife had tried to rape his 18 month old daughter. The tears just ran down my face when suddenly my wife who had come in the room behind me said "Are yoiu crying"?
