What happens if you stop taking your plaquenil

I've been on plaquenil for 6 months for suspected Sjogren's syndrome (I don't have antibodies for Sjorgren's or Lupus but I do have Hashimoto's and have all the symptoms for Sjorgren's so the rheumatologist suggested a trial of plaquenil). Basically I've been on the drug since January and saw the rheumatologist on Wednesday to see how things are going.

Some patients decide to stop taking statins, a cholesterol-lowering drug, if they experience side effects. A new study tracked how they did. How long does it take for imuran and plaquenil hydroxychloroquine to completely leave your system if you stop them after taking thrm for 1 month. Dr. Stated plaquenil hydroxychloroquine could also be the reason for my vertigo - could vertigo really start 8 months after taking it? I don't want to stop this drug.

I do think it's helped with fatigue and muscle pain but it's hard for me to compare to Xmas as when the improvement is so gradual I think it's really hard to notice on a gradual basis. I *think* I'm improving but it's been a gradual process and I said to him that it's quite hard to tell how much of an improvement I'm feeling.

  4. It's ok to stop plaquenil without weaning, but I do recommend that if you feel you can wait til Monday, wait, and talk with your rheumy then. I felt that plaquenil wasn't helping, and was causing digestive problems for me, so with my dr. ok, I went off it. After two weeks off, I discovered it had been doing some good on the joint and muscle pain.

If you don't have to, don't stop your plaquenil. I stopped taking the plaquenil the beginning of December. It doesn't agree with my stomach I take it with meals too. And since I hadn't had a miraculous recovery the 6 months I'd been on it, I didn't think there was any harm in stopping it. Nov 12, 2009 Plaquenil is a 6-weeker as far as the benefits are concerned, but it would be more dangerous to stop if you spend a lot of time outside and if this were the summer. If you're gonna experiment, I went off it cold turkey as it didn't hurt to do it that way, but you better get back on before the summer or you could experience a flare-up. I am on plaquenil and so fare I have not had sores on my face but I do have them on the bottom of my feet and when they bust open they will have puse like stuff and they of my feet are in bad shape and so for now I'm having to wear my house shose because my regular shose hurt to wear. I all so get these on my back as well and my hands and feet are peeling as well and my Rheumy told me.
