  5. I’ve been on plaquenil for about 18 months and am not losing any more hair than usual I’ve always tended to shed a lot, but my hair isn’t thinning. I also took it about 25 years ago and didn’t have this side effect then either. If your hair loss is that extreme I think you should talk to your rheumatologist.
