Is it that it just hasnt started to work yet (I know its still early). I dont really see any hairs on my pillow or shower drain or anything, but im def losing them. Hey I found this on another website, it seems to describe my situation perfectly and it has put me at ease for now, maybe it will help some othere too: Shedding Shedding is a term given to an excessive amount of hair being lost at once. So for all of you who have taken propecia, and it has worked for, did this happen to you, and did it eventually work? While this is a very unpleasant experience, it is actually a very good sign and indication that the Propecia is working. Shedding occurs when many follicles are put back into the growth cycle at the same time. When a hair enters the anagen or growth phase the first thing that happens is the old hair is pushed out by the new hair that is starting to grow. Shedding usually occurs after about 12 weeks of treatment and lasts for around 4-6 weeks. After this initial shedding phase has occurred most men experience fewer and fewer of these and most often they go largely unnoticed. If you are going though a shed phase do not panic as it will most likely slow down and stop after a few weeks. But now I noticed some extra shedding during shampoo... And if the sexual side effect were to develop, normally when will it comes? I would suggest cutting your hair short so you dont fixate so much on the lost hair. Yes, it may cause some initial shedding, but that is generally considered a good thing and means the meds are working. second, if you were going to have sexual side effects, they would have appeared by now, so your probably in the clear. Please dont get too swayed by the internet postings about the sexual side effects. I have taken the meds for 2 years now, and havent had a bit of trouble. Stick with it, and after a year, if your still unhappy with the results, try adding rogaine foam to your regime. It can be applied in the front or crown, doesnt matter. Yes, it may cause some initial shedding, but that is generally considered a good thing and means the meds are working.

For those low on information about Propecia, shedding while on Propecia is a big contradiction, and the irony is obvious. The contradiction part comes from the knowledge that Propecia is the medication for treating baldness (which should prevent hair shedding). The irony comes into the picture where a patient is undergoing treatment against shedding and yet is currently shedding while under treatment. For those in the know, hair shedding while undergoing treatment on Propecia is simply part of the whole process. The short version is that treatment on alopecia (hair loss) does not produce instant results. Patients can undergo full medication for about two to three months before some signs of stoppage in the shedding of hair finally show up.
